Fall at Kids’ Church!

Although it doesn’t feel like it, “Fall” is back at Vineyard City Kids’ Church!  We are beginning our new curriculum and teacher rotation.  We have ongoing needs in Kids’ Church for more assistants, nursery workers, and check-in czars!  This commitment is just once a month through the school year.  We’re looking for some good men and women to help.  We’ll give you curriculum, supplies, and training, fostering skills you may not even know you possess!  Please call Susan Stokes at (520) 298-8062 for more information and to volunteer for this fun and crucial ministry of our church!

What we want:

To help parents grow kids strong in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, able to understand and live in the way of the Bible, and experience and express a living, vital faith in Christ while experiencing church as a fun and safe place full of family and friends.

What happens:

Each Sunday, Parents sign their children into their classes at the Kids’ Church sign in reception desk. After worshipping with the grown-ups, preschool through 6th grade aged children are dismissed to go with their particular class. All classes meet together for a ten minute circle time, where everyone gets to know each other a little better, we go over the rules which help us all to respect each other and stay safe, and then break up for age appropriate interactions with the Bible, each other and God. Parents then come to their children’s classrooms to sign them out when both adult and children’s services are over.

How Kids’ Church is staffed:

In addition to the coordinators, Kids’ Church classes are taught and assisted by parents and other volunteers. Currently, we ask that every family who has children in Kids’ Church has one parent or guardian who teaches or assists once a month through the academic year (and serves a consecutive 2 week teaching commitment during summer camp). Each class therefore is taught by a total of 4 teachers and 4 assistants, who have a regular rotation each month. We ask that all volunteers are regular, committed attendees of Vineyard City Church.

Nursery Hours:

It is the goal of the nursery to provide safe, loving care for our infants and toddlers. In the effort to give new moms free hands to raise in worship if they so choose, the Nursery opens at the beginning of worship. Staffing is the same as the older classes.

Extras:

At VCC, the Kids’ Church children play some pretty significant roles in our special events. We have an Annual Christmas Pageant, an Annual Easter Processional, and an occasional choir. After-church childcare is arranged by VCC Kids’ Church coordinators for special events such as the annual meeting and the annual Ministry Fair. Kids’ Church participates in annual outreaches like “Backpacks for Blenman”, and “Stocking Stuffers” for the homeless.
